Galanthus elwesii 'Jack By The Edge' is a lovely, vigorous snowdrop. Rather than a neat mark, the green apical marking smudges slightly further up the inner segments, and the tips of the outer segments also carry a little touch of green too.

It was found by Paul Barney of Edulis Nursery at Ashampstead in Berkshire in 2011, growing beside a clump of 'Jack-by-the-hedge' (Alliaria petiolata), so the name is a play on words. It's a good, strong plant with flowers held well above the leaves. Here in the North West it usually flowers in early to mid-February.
