Galanthus elwesii ‘Grumpy’ - When I speak to people who are quite new to snowdrops, ‘Grumpy’ always seems to come up. It’s a great plant and very well-known. It was named by Joe Sharman after it was found in a Cambridgeshire garden. A lovely plant with a very well defined ‘Grumpy’ face. It seems that everyone wants this plant in their garden, and I’m no exception. I am a huge fan of it and, when you get a nice sunny day and the outers open fully, you can really see those defined ‘eyes’ and sad mouth. Good vigour, large size and just a brilliant plant that everyone should have. It starts flowering here in mid to late January.
