Galanthus reginae-olgae subsp. vernalis 'Christine' is a wonderful and vigorous plant which normally flowers here in late December to January. It is of the subspecies vernalis, which is the later flowering form of G. reginae-olgae, endemic to the Balkans in South East Europe. Tall and erect scapes and lovely in a clump; unlike subsp. reginae-olgae, the leaves are on show when the plant flowers.
This specific clone was named by Christopher Grey-Wilson for his wife after being found in his mother's garden around 60 years ago. This plant has stood the test of time in cultivation and is an excellent and beautiful garden plant.
