Galanthus 'Ding Dong'

Galanthus 'Ding Dong' was selected by the late Alan Street at Avon Bulbs, and the name is a playful nod to the old 'Ding dong, Avon calling' adverts.  It's a tall, elegant snowdrop which really stands out in a crowd, thanks largely to its long, pale olive-green ovary.

The outer segments are long, slim and gently curved, and the inners are almost completely green, with the colour deepening towards the tips; a lovely match for the ovary above.  Established bulbs often throw up two flowering stems each, and it's a vigorous plant that bulks up into a good clump.  A brilliant early snowdrop which flowers here in the North West from around mid January.
