Galanthus 'Compu. Ted' is a large-flowered hybrid snowdrop introduced by John Sales, the former Chief Gardens Adviser to the National Trust. Avon Bulbs, who had it from him, sum up the name perfectly in their 2021 catalogue: “named for his computer-obsessed grandson Ted.”
It's a very attractive snowdrop with long, boat-shaped outer segments which are lightly ribbed. The inners have interesting markings, with a pale mark at the base and a darker one at the tip, joined by little vertical creases, so there's lots of detail when you turn a flower over. It has nice broad leaves which stand quite erect when in flower, and it clumps up relatively well. It's an early one, flowering here in the North West in early January.
