Galanthus nivalis ‘Fuzz’ - I think spiky snowdrops are definitely ‘Marmite’ plants. You may love them, you may hate them…. I absolutely love them! I find the form of ‘Fuzz’ wonderful. It has numerous thin and delicate claw-like segments tinged with green. It’s a small plant as a nivalis and the bulbs are also very small. The flowers tend to be held horizontally or vertically. I think it looks fantastic in a clump. This plant is not to everyone’s taste but, for those that find it visually appealing, I recommend it very highly.
A quote from Avon Bulbs’ 2023 catalogue; “One of the earliest spikey forms of G. nivalis. The original plant was selected in the woods near Cornwood, Devon, by Peter Glover. Long lasting in flower.”
