Galanthus ‘Turncoat’ - There are lots of named Trym-type snowdrops which have been named over the years. 'Turncoat' is a hybrid (with G. plicatus ‘Trym’ in its parentage) and is one of my very favourites of the Trym-types. It is an excellent doer and has tall and very erect scapes. This makes it look brilliant in a clump – something that forms quite quickly. It has bold green markings to the apex of the outers and an inverted ‘U’ marking to the inners. The outer petals curve outwards slightly; something I find to be very attractive. ‘Turncoat’ is a seedling from Woodchippings, the garden of Richard Bashford and Valerie Bexley. It really should be in every garden – a lovely plant.
