Galanthus nivalis ‘Norfolk Blonde’ is a snowdrop that I treasure due to its uniqueness and very small size.  I am a big fan of a huge variety of different snowdrops but, to me, the very small yellow ones appeal hugely.  I have a lot of very small yellows of different form and I adore them.  In reality they are probably best grown in pots or in an alpine bed so they can be easily admired and don’t get hidden or swamped by other plants in the garden.  I actually ‘lost’ an aquatic basket of this bulb a few years ago.  I knew I had it somewhere and I ended up finding it under the leaves of a hellebore.  It had been there for about three years and, without any attention and just general abuse, it had multiplied tremendously.  Some people say this plant is a tricky one but I don’t think it is.  Best in a pot or right at the front of the border, without anything that is going to grow over it during the season.  Ovaries and inners are a pale yellow colour.  The leaves also have a yellowy tinge to them.  To me, I think this plant is brilliant.  It might not be what everyone is looking for in a snowdrop but, for those that like it, it’s a stunner.  The bulbs are very very small, even for a nivalis.  The bulb you will receive is mature although it may not seem so when you see its tiny size!  'Norfolk Blonde' was apparently found in Rosie Steele's Norfolk garden amongst a colony of G. nivalis.
