Galanthus bursanus 'Alpha Tutelar' is an unusually formed clone from Ruslan Mishustin (Ukraine). I would call it a semi-poculiform, but stand to be corrected... The inner segments (which almost resemble the outers) show a single 'U' marking to the apex. This is very unusual for G. bursanus, which would normally display a double marking similar to that of G. plicatus subsp. byzantinus.
Having said that, the variation within the species bursanus in cultivation seems vast, despite it only being described as a new species in 2019. This is a lovely clone and has performed very well in my garden over the last few years. It starts to flower here from late September to early October and the flowering period seems to last a number of weeks. Like a lot of G. bursanus it often sends a second scape after the first flower has gone over.
The images are of the actual plant you are buying. There are two further flower buds forming so you will certainly be given a beautiful display this season.
All plants listed will be sent with a Plant Passport, as required by Defra. I only post to the UK unfortunately at the moment, excluding Northern Ireland.
